will make its
big-screen, G-rated debut on July 23, and we can be
as confident as author Beverly Cleary is that her
characters will be well treated. Cleary’s editor,
Barbara Lalicki, says the author had turned down
movie offers for years but was impressed by
producer Denise DiNovi’s commitment to making a
movie that’s true to the book: “She brought her

fan,” Lalicki recalls. The film stars Bridget Moynahan
